During a drive from Banff to Couer d' Alene last winter we decided to stop for dinner at a fabulous restaurant called "41 South".  The restaurant offers stunning lake views, a fabulous menu and top notch service.　By luck a recent snow storm encouraged us to spend the night and that's when we discovered the newly built "Lodge" next door and the powder at Schewitzer Mountain.

What is so amazing is the quality of the building and decor. Completed in 2008 by owners Glen and Leslie, the Lodge at Sandpoint offers 25 1-bedroom suites and rooms with all the comforts of home.  Each suite contains a dining area and kitchen, living area, fireplace, deck and private sleeping in the master bedroom. 

Complimentary breakfast is served indoors or outside on the lakeview terrace.   The great room and library feature a high trussed ceiling, floor to ceiling windows and a giant fireplace.   

Best of all, the view of the lake and surrounding mountains and forest take your breath away.

The prices are extremely reasonable considering the quality.

The Lodge at Sandpoint is perfect destination for families and couples looking for a romantic getaway.  During the winter months Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort is a quick drive up the mountain and during the summer months the lake provides fun for all with water skiing, swimming and sailing.  If golf is your passion, a Jack Nicklaus course recently opened and awaits your first game.   

For the shopping  enthusiasts Sandpoint is the home of Coldwater Creek and many other fine boutique shops located in this quaint walking community.
